What are the maintenance windows? 1. Does TrackN solution requires additional hardware for it to work? No. As long as you have a GPS enabled phone like windows mobile, blackberry, Iphone or Nokia (Symbian), our software will function just fine. We do however provide a trackn device for those without GPS enabled phones or for those wanting to track young children or even valuable objects. 2. What is fitted in the vehicle? Nothing is fitted to the vehicle however for your safety we recommend you use a cradle for your phone. 3. Can trackn be used to track the speed and mileage of our vehicles? Yes. One of our key features is tracking speed and mileage which combined with our extensive reporting will show you all the information you require in the TrackN Web Console. 4. Can it help us to reduce fuel expenditure and if so, how? Yes, by monitoring speed thus adhering to speed limits and also by reducing unnecessary mileage, which can now be tracked. 5. Can we track our staff when they are not in their Vehicles? Yes. Since trackn mobile client is loaded on the user’s phone you can keep track of them no matter where they are, as well as two way communication from just a click with our unique software. 6. Is it legal to track people? Yes. It is legal to track but it is your duty to inform them that you are doing so. 7. How accurate is the position of the device on TrackN mapping system? The accuracy is based on the GPS chip installed in your phone, accuracy is typical between 10 to 20 meters anywhere in the world, Track client combines XPS technology which combines Wi-Fi, cell id and GPS to always provide you with a location indoors and outdoors this eliminating GPS dead spots. Our TrackN device does not take advantage of XPS, it only uses standard GPS technology and is accurate within 10 meters depending on signal reception. 8. Will this work indoors, in a shopping mall for instance? At present there are some limitations to GPS in that within certain buildings or surroundings it cannot always pick up enough satellites to pin point your position, to overcome these limitations TrackN has teamed with Skyhook which will allow a location fix indoors. Our Phone client sends its position every 5 minutes as the default setting but this can be changed by the system operator to as little as 1 minute to a maximum of 30 minute intervals. 10. What happens when the phone is switched off? The last known position will be sent there after no more tracking can or will be done to ensure privacy of the user, also our time schedule can be used to automate this. 11. What happens if I am on a phone call? Data Tracking and Usage 3G: Please be advised that if you are using a 3G enabled phone you must make sure that 3G is on as this is sometimes switched off in order to conserve battery life. Since 3G enables you to send and receive GPRS while in the middle of a phone call you will be able to take advantage tracking while in the middle of a call. This is dependant that you are in an area that has 3G coverage Note: Please be aware that using 3G also affects the battery life of the phone. 2G: If you are using a 2G phone please be aware that you will not be able to take advantage of tracking while in the middle of a phone call. However your data will still be cached, GPRS will then proceed to send out the data for that time period at the end of your phone call. This is mainly due to the fact that 2.5G phones are unable to cope with both data and voice calls at the same time. 12. How do we access the tracking information? Simply log on to www.trackn.me and enter your user name and password. You can also track from your mobile phone using the TrackN client. 13. Is there a trial period? Yes, we offer a 14 day trial period where you can fully test our software before you buy. 14. How long do we need to sign up for? If you use TrackN on the mobile internet, when you’re overseas, you will incur roaming charges. If you are unsure of the potential charges for accessing the internet on your phone from abroad, we strongly advise you to check with your mobile network operator. For UK users, here are some indicative costs of the roaming charges of the major mobile networks. However, depending on your contract, you may find some costs are included in your existing price plan or that you can buy a data bundle that allows you to access the internet from overseas at a lower cost. We’ve designed TrackN specifically for the mobile tracking, keeping page sizes as small as possible, to minimise your data charges. A typical page is 6.5Kb (0.0063MB). Based on the table above the cost of viewing our pages from overseas is between 1p (T-Mobile in Europe) and 5p (Orange outside Europe). Whats are the TrackN text credits used for? TrackN can use normal text messages as an alternative to emails to send alerts and location reports to user’s phones, in order to make use of this feature you need to top up text credits. You pay an upfront cost to use TrackN Text credits. If your contract is with a network provider in the UK or other European country there is no charge to receive any of our text messages whether you’re at home or abroad – so, there’ll be no nasty surprises on your next mobile phone bill.
